Mass Effect 3 ending might make some people angry

Here’s the problem with ending stories: when you let them go on too long, you’re never going to satisfy everyone.  There have been times that I’ve been satisfied by the ending to a long TV show or series of movies (Lord of the Rings, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood) and there have been even more times when I’ve been dissatisfied by an ending (Lost, Battlestar Galactica, The Matrix Trilogy).  There’s just a lot of expectations and to be honest its probably daunting to a writer to satisfy all of them without turning the whole piece into a pile of garbage (they often manage to do this anyway).

It looks like Bioware has noticed this phenomenon and admits their ending might not satisfy everyone completely.

The game industry needs to stop announcing things so damn early

If there was one real problem I have with the gaming industry today, it must be the timing of announcements.  It seems that there is no shortage of the need to blurt out that you are working on some sequel the moment development begins.  What for though?  Why even waste our time with this nonsense?  I can certainly understand that you are all excited to be working on the next sequel to some game we all played 5, 10, even 15 years ago, but if there is no clear sight of the finish line then I just don’t see the point of telling us about it right away.

Rumor has it next Bioware game is “Command & Conquer: Alliances”

There’s been some speculation around what EA and Bioware are teaming up to do next, but a recent domain registration for around a dozen different names has everyone thinking the next game is going to be called “Command & Conquer: Alliances”, presumably taking place in the C&C universe.  Hit the jump for the full story!
